A pony has been found dead in Egtved, southern Denmark, in what is believed to be the second wolf attack in the area within two weeks, DR reports.

The owner, Anna Marie Dahl, discovered the dead animal on Tuesday morning. The pony, named Mille, was partially eaten, mirroring an earlier attack on April 15 that killed another pony, Bellami. The Danish Nature Agency (Naturstyrelsen) previously confirmed that incident as a wolf attack.

Dahl told DR that she and her husband had moved the ponies closer to their home after the first attack but feared a repeat incident. “We’re completely devastated that it’s happened again,” she said. “There’s no doubt it’s a wolf. The remains of a foal that was due in two weeks were also there.”

The Nature Agency has not yet visited the site to verify the latest attack, but Dahl said she has notified them. She added that she can no longer keep ponies due to the risk. “We have to sell them. We can’t handle this anymore.”
