Cecilie Liv Hansen will resign as deputy chair of the business committee in the Region of Southern Denmark, following an agreement with her former party colleague Bettina Eriksen, DR reports.

The former Liberal Alliance member announced her decision during a regional council meeting on Tuesday. Hansen, now an independent politician, retains her role as deputy chair of the Little Belt Health Council after reaching a compromise with Eriksen.

Eriksen had previously called for Hansen to be removed from both deputy chair positions, citing concerns over Hansen’s triple mandate—holding seats in the Danish parliament (Folketinget), Kolding Municipal Council, and the regional council. However, Eriksen confirmed during the meeting that she would no longer push for Hansen’s removal from the health council role.

“I can certainly agree that Cecilie continues her work in the Little Belt Health Council,” Eriksen said. “But I still hope she realises that holding three mandates is excessive, and our first substitute in Liberal Alliance is ready to take over the position.”

Hansen was elected to the regional council last autumn but was later expelled from Liberal Alliance after party leadership concluded she had made false statements about her private life.
