Windows smashed at neo-Nazi gathering site in Jyväskylä
The windows of a youth association hall in Jyväskylä, central Finland, were broken ahead of a neo-Nazi event organised by the international network Blood & Honour, reports Keskisuomalainen.
Police confirmed a criminal report for vandalism was filed after the incident, discovered early Saturday. Officers patrolling the Tapiola youth hall—owned by the Jyväskylä Regional Youth Association—found the rear windows shattered. Photos from the scene show the damaged windows now boarded up with plywood.
The youth association’s chair, Tiina Mankonen, told the newspaper they were unaware of the renter’s background and plan to tighten booking procedures to prevent similar situations. “This activity is in no way aligned with our values,” the association stated in a Facebook post.
Police have maintained a presence at the site to monitor public order but reported no arrests or disturbances by Saturday evening. Around 40–50 protesters also gathered in Jyväskylä’s city centre earlier in the day, demanding neo-Nazis be banned from the area.
According to Yle’s investigative program MOT, Blood & Honour has held events at the same venue for years. The group, which avoids publicising locations, is reportedly hosting a concert and a meeting of its European branches this weekend.
