Finland’s finance minister, Riikka Purra, will appear on public broadcaster Yle’s Ykkösaamu morning programme at 10:05 local time on Saturday, where she is expected to address uncertainties over the government’s latest austerity measures.

The centre-right coalition led by Prime Minister Petteri Orpo agreed on Tuesday to a fiscal framework for 2027–2030, including €240 million in cuts to social and healthcare services and €60 million from state administration. The plan also introduces new patient fees, procedural charges, and the phasing out of rehabilitative work programmes and social rehabilitation schemes in their current form.

Critics have questioned how deeply the government has actually adjusted public spending. Purra, of the Finns Party, is likely to face scrutiny on this during the live broadcast, which will be available on Yle’s Areena streaming service and TV1.

The interview follows a week of public debate over the impact of the cuts, which will directly affect household finances through higher fees and reduced services.
