Police stakeout leads to two men remanded over burglaries
Two men have been remanded in custody for four weeks on suspicion of burglaries and attempted burglaries in the Nyborg area, DR reports.
The men, aged 24 and 37 and from Nyborg Municipality, were arrested on Tuesday after a targeted police operation linked to a series of break-ins over several months. The burglaries involved businesses and private homes, and items stolen included designer furniture, lamps and other valuables.
Police used a dog patrol to find several items and kept watch at the location, hoping the suspects would return to collect the stolen goods. When they did, officers arrested both men.
“It was a good decision to stay at the location and wait for the perpetrators to return, and it paid off,” said Maria Fanø-Fredeløkke, a special prosecutor with Funen Police.
The men appeared at a preliminary hearing at Svendborg District Court on Wednesday and were remanded for four weeks. The police statement did not say how they responded to the charges.
