The US credit rating agency S&P Global Ratings has revised Finland’s credit outlook from stable to negative, the Ministry of Finance announced in a statement on Wednesday.
According to S&P, the change reflects ongoing risks to public finances stemming from weak economic growth, an ageing population, and rising defence and interest expenses. The agency maintained Finland’s long-term credit rating at AA+.
The ministry did not provide further details on potential consequences or timing for a full rating review.
