US-based Freedom House awards Finland’s president Alexander Stubb for leadership in democracy

The US-based democracy advocacy group Freedom House will award Finland’s President Alexander Stubb its Leadership Award, the organisation announced on Wednesday.

Freedom House recognised Stubb for his “exceptional dedication to advancing democratic values and supporting those on the front lines of freedom.”

In a post on X, Stubb said he shares the award with all Finns. “While I may receive it personally, this is an award for all of us,” he wrote. “We are a nation that understands the importance of democracy and freedom—goals worth working for every single day.”
