School principal suspended in Pori over allegations of inappropriate contact with student

A principal at a school in Pori, southwestern Finland, has been suspended from duty amid allegations of inappropriate physical contact with a student, according to a report by Finnish public broadcaster Yle.

Police in Southwest Finland are investigating the incident, which was reported by the student’s parents. Authorities have not disclosed the name of the school to protect the privacy of those involved.

“To safeguard the privacy of the parties, police will not confirm the school’s name,” said Anna Saarenoja, communications chief for Southwest Finland Police, in a text message to Yle. She confirmed that an investigation matching the description is underway at a school in Pori.

The principal at the center of the investigation declined to comment when contacted by Yle.

No further details have been released as the case remains under preliminary investigation.
