A pet store in Turku, Finland, specializing in exotic animals, has reported a case of theft and animal cruelty involving a tarantula. The incident occurred on Monday when a group of boys, estimated to be around 12 years old, entered the shop to view the animals for sale.

Unnoticed, the boys stole a tarantula that was kept in a plastic container. They then took the spider to a nearby park, where they set it on fire. The act of animal cruelty was captured on video and later shared online.

Local police in Southwest Finland announced on Thursday that they have received a report regarding the incident. Tino Anttila, the store’s CEO, previously told Helsingin Sanomat that the identities of at least two boys involved in the theft and animal abuse are known.
