Fertiliser prices surge as Middle East conflict disrupts global supply
The cost of fertiliser has spiked sharply in Denmark due to the Middle East conflict and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, increasing financial pressure on farmers, reports Danish broadcaster DR.
The disruption to shipping routes has driven up prices, with immediate effects expected on food costs. In the longer term, the rising expenses could force more farmers out of the industry.
Oil prices have also climbed as a result of the conflict, further straining agricultural production costs.
