Around two million Finnish wage earners, benefit recipients, and pensioners must check and, if necessary, supplement their pre-filled tax returns by Tuesday, 22 April, the Finnish Tax Administration has reminded.

While pre-filled tax returns already contain much of the necessary information—and are correct for most taxpayers—they must always be verified, the agency stated. Some income and deductions must also be reported manually.

Common self-reported deductions include household expense deductions, remote work-related costs, and commuting expenses between home and workplace accrued last year.

Income that must be declared separately includes rental income, virtual currency earnings, dividends or securities transactions from foreign brokers, and revenue from social media content creation.
