The Faroese dairy company MBM will resume production of the popular Fóm ice cream brand in the Faroe Islands after reaching an agreement with its Icelandic owner, reports Faroese national broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya.

Under the deal with Icelandic company Damfar, which owns the Fóm brand, production will return to the Faroes after being manufactured in Iceland in recent years. Tony Weyhe, MBM’s managing director, confirmed the move but noted that limited local milk supplies may constrain output.

Weyhe also announced plans to launch a new cheese product next month, with potential for export—including to Greenland. Cheese production has long been part of MBM’s operations, but the company is now exploring expanded varieties. “There are some interesting opportunities, particularly in connection with Greenland,” he said.

The shift follows ongoing efforts to boost Faroese dairy processing capacity, though Weyhe acknowledged that ice cream production will remain modest due to milk availability.
