The management of Skúlaheimið, a student housing complex in the Faroe Islands, will dismantle surveillance cameras in common areas following a formal complaint from residents, Kringvarp Føroya reports.

Residents argued that the sudden installation of cameras throughout the building violated their privacy, prompting a legal dispute. The housing authority, Glasi, acknowledged that communication with students had been insufficient.

“The cameras in the hallways of Skúlaheimið will be taken down,” confirmed Una Joensen, director of Glasi, admitting that dialogue between management and residents had “not always been good enough.”

Students expressed frustration over what they described as poor treatment by the administration, leading to a meeting where their concerns—including broader grievances beyond the cameras—were addressed.
