The opposition parties in the Faroese parliament have agreed to a wide-ranging political cooperation, marking a shift away from the bloc politics that have dominated recent elections, reports Kringvarp Føroya.

In a joint policy statement, opposition leaders have committed to several key points, though not all proposals received unanimous support. The agreement signals a potential move toward broader cross-party collaboration beyond the traditional single-coalition model.

Bjarni Árting Rubeksen and Johnsigurd Johannesen confirmed that while some disagreements remain, the era of rigid bloc politics—where fixed alliances determined government formation—appears to be over.

The shift could open new possibilities for coalition-building in Faroese politics, with indications that future governments may draw support from across a wider spectrum than in previous terms.
