Finnish telecommunications equipment manufacturer Nokia intends to reduce its workforce in Finland by a maximum of 121 employees, according to documents obtained by Helsingin Sanomat.

The company informed employees on Thursday that change negotiations, initiated in February, have concluded. Nokia had initially announced plans to review up to 156 positions in Finland as part of efforts to lower its cost structure.

Final decisions on layoffs will be communicated to affected employees by April 22, at which point the exact number of job cuts will be confirmed. Nokia currently employs 6,600 people in Finland.

In February, Nokia’s head of communications, Maria Vaismaa, stated that the negotiations aimed to reduce the company’s cost base. The firm had previously announced a target of achieving annual gross cost savings of €800–1,200 million by the end of 2024.
