Hungary’s parliamentary election on Sunday is at risk of foreign interference, according to Jukka Savolainen, network director of the European Centre of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats, who will discuss the issue on Finland’s Ykkösaamu (Morning One) programme this Saturday.
Savolainen, appearing on the Yle TV1 broadcast, will analyse the geopolitical stakes of the vote, where polls suggest current Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s party is trailing. A victory for Orbán—who has maintained close ties with Russian President Vladimir Putin—would likely be welcomed by Moscow, while former US President Donald Trump has also expressed support for the Hungarian leader.
The programme will explore broader global conflicts and their connections to the election. Viewers can submit questions for Savolainen via an online form provided by Yle.
The live broadcast begins at 10:05 local time on Yle TV1 and Yle Areena, hosted by Seija Vaaherkumpu.
