Thousands of households remain without electricity and major train disruptions continue across southern and western Sweden after Storm Dave swept through the region over the Easter weekend, SVT Nyheter reports.

The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) lifted its orange warning for the storm early Monday, though gusty conditions are expected to persist in most of the country except northern Norrland. Winds may intensify again in the afternoon, particularly in Skåne, with potential for new warnings later in the day.

Train services halted on key routes

The Swedish Transport Administration warns of ongoing disruptions to road and rail traffic. Several rail lines remain closed, including the Göteborg–Vänersborg and Göteborg–Skövde routes until midnight Monday, according to Göteborgs-Posten.

Services between Stockholm and Göteborg face cancellations on both Monday and Tuesday, affecting high-speed and regional trains. Road travel conditions also remain uncertain due to storm damage.

Power outages and rescues

Over 30,000 customers were still without electricity Monday morning, with Swedish National Grid reporting that high winds are delaying repairs. In Oskarshamn, authorities issued an emergency alert warning that power outages could disrupt telephone networks, urging residents to seek help at Kristdala fire station if needed.

On Sunday evening, a ferry carrying around 800 passengers to Oskarshamn was forced to turn back due to extreme winds. In Uddevalla, flooding trapped a driver on a car roof overnight, requiring rescue by emergency services.

Storm Dave brought heavy rain, flooding, and wind gusts exceeding 30 m/s to parts of southern and western Sweden since Friday.
