Olkiluoto 2 nuclear reactor begins annual maintenance
The Olkiluoto 2 nuclear reactor in Finland will shut down for ten days of annual maintenance starting today, operator Teollisuuden Voima (TVO) announced.
Power reduction at the unit began yesterday, with output halved in preparation for the maintenance period. The reactor will be taken offline for refuelling, TVO stated.
Maintenance at the Olkiluoto 1 reactor will follow on April 19, lasting until mid-June. Together, the two reactors supply roughly 30 percent of Finland’s electricity demand.
