Train services between Oslo and Gothenburg remain suspended after a tree fell across the tracks near Ed and Öxnered in Sweden, Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet reports. Passengers, including families with children, are stranded on board as severe weather continues to cause travel disruptions in the region.

Erik Sørdal Landsem, travelling with his son Marius, told Dagbladet that their train had been stationary for over 90 minutes near Brålanda in Vänersborg municipality. “We’ve been given chocolate and coffee, so that helps,” he said. Despite the delay, he described the mood among passengers as calm, with no signs of frustration. “People are taking it in stride. There are snack vending machines, so it’s not a crisis,” he added.

The family was returning from an Easter trip to Gothenburg—a journey that had also been disrupted by delays the previous year. “If things get really bad, we might have to go back to Gothenburg,” Landsem said, though he remained optimistic about continuing home.

Norwegian rail operator Vy stated it was monitoring the storm but did not expect major disruptions. “Conditions can change quickly, and we’re in close contact with Bane Nor [Norway’s rail infrastructure manager] to take action if needed,” press officer Siv Egger Westin told news agency NTB. Some routes are already operating reduced services due to scheduled maintenance and Easter timetables.

The storm, named “Dave,” is forecast to bring extreme wind gusts to Rogaland and Agder counties on Sunday morning, with red weather alerts in effect between 11:00 and 17:00. Strong winds are also expected in Vestland, Telemark, Vestfold, and Østfold.

Vy advised travellers to check real-time updates via its app or website before departing.
