Zoo welcomes second giraffe calf in two months

A giraffe calf was born at Aalborg Zoo on Monday, marking the second giraffe birth at the facility in just two months, reports Danish broadcaster DR.

The newborn, a female, arrived early in the morning and is described as healthy and strong. Zoo staff observed the calf standing and nursing within hours of birth. The mother, a 10-year-old giraffe named Kiona, has previously given birth at the zoo.

The latest arrival follows another giraffe birth in late April, when a male calf was born to a different female in the same herd. Aalborg Zoo now houses a total of seven giraffes, including the two new calves.
