Ten first-time representatives have been elected to the Faroese parliament, the Løgting, following Thursday’s general election, national broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya reports.

The most notable newcomer is 20-year-old Bjørg Brynhildardóttir Egholm of the Republic party (Tjóðveldi), who secured 972 votes—around 16 percent of her party’s total—earning her the final seat on the party’s list. Her strong showing in the capital Tórshavn helped secure an additional seat for Tjóðveldi.

The People’s Party (Fólkaflokkurin) also gained three new members: Fróði Magnussen (499 votes), former Centre Party representative Bill Justinussen (445 votes), and first-time politician Grímur Sundstein (354 votes). Tjóðveldi added two more new faces—Liljan Weihe (452 votes) and Jóhan Christiansen (307 votes)—while the Union Party (Sambandsflokkurin) welcomed Atli F. Johansen (558 votes) and Sunnvá Dahl Høgfeldt (368 votes), neither of whom have previously served in parliament.

The Social Democratic Party (Javnaðarflokkurin) saw Ben Arabo elected with 955 votes, placing him second on the party’s list. Some of the new representatives have prior political experience, including former cabinet members and one who previously served under a different party.
