Weather forecast predicts temporary respite from rain across Northeast and East regions of Iceland
Weather forecasts for the upcoming weekend indicate a temporary respite from the rain, according to meteorologist Einar Sveinbjörnsson. While low-pressure systems are present near the country, good weather conditions are expected in the Northeast and East regions, with improving conditions in the South and West.
“Friday will see decent weather, although some rain is anticipated in the East, following a series of fine days earlier this week,” Einar notes. However, he adds that summer-like warmth is not on the horizon, and rainfall can be expected in the following week. Given that the weekend of the Merchant’s Holiday is approaching, predicting specific weather conditions for these days is challenging. Yet, residents have enjoyed several warm days with temperatures exceeding 20 degrees Celsius, particularly in the North and East.
“The summer so far has not been all bad, but forecasts for the next 7 to 10 days suggest a wetter pattern across the South and West. Conversely, areas in the rain shadow of the mountains, especially in the Northeast and possibly parts of the East, are likely to remain shielded from rain, resulting in good to even very pleasant weather there on certain days,” Einar explains.
