Sjúrður Skaale expected to win seat in Klaksvík, says editor
The editor of Norðlýsið believes Sjúrður Skaale will secure a personal mandate in Klaksvík, with little indication that either the Republic or People’s Party will overtake the Union Party in the Faroe Islands’ North Islands constituency.
Jóhann Lützen, editor of the Faroese newspaper, told public broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya that Skaale’s strong voter turnout—estimated at around 70 percent in Klaksvík—reflects his ability to address issues like Israel and Islam, as well as his role in reinvigorating parliamentary sessions.
“Sjúrður Skaale has championed several agendas that resonate poorly in Klaksvík,” Lützen said. “What particularly appeals to voters is his skill in articulating the Israel-Islam conflict. He has also reinvented parliamentary debates—like summoning divine rain upon Faroese people.”
