Major Banksy exhibition with over 150 works opens in Turku after European tour
A travelling exhibition featuring the works of the elusive street artist Banksy will open in Turku, Finland, in April, following a successful European tour that has drawn over two million visitors, reports Finnish public broadcaster Yle.
The Mystery of Banksy – A Genius Mind will be on display from 17 April to 25 October in a historic industrial hall at Telakkaranta on Unioninkatu. The exhibition, organised by the pop art museum PoCo, presents more than 150 works, including graffiti, photographs, sculptures, video installations, and prints on materials such as canvas, textiles, aluminium, and plexiglass. All pieces have been recreated specifically for this show.
Banksy, a British artist from Bristol known for provocative and boundary-pushing works, has maintained anonymity throughout their career. The exhibition—produced by German organiser Oliver Forster and curated by Banksy specialist Virginia Jean—offers a comprehensive overview of the artist’s work, though it is not officially authorised by Banksy. As the artist once stated: “Copyright is for losers ©TM.”
Forster noted in a press release that while Banksy is primarily a street artist, they have also sold signed works and limited-edition prints, most of which remain in private collections. “Seeing an authentic Banksy piece is rare,” he said.
The exhibition has previously toured multiple European cities, gaining acclaim as one of the world’s most successful art shows.
