Next week will bring windy conditions across Finland, with rain expected midweek to ease dusty urban air, according to Yle meteorologist Anniina Valtonen. Temperatures remain unusually warm for the season.
The week will start mostly dry nationwide, though a weak low-pressure band may bring light precipitation to southwestern Finland and Kainuu on Monday. Valtonen noted that the system is unlikely to produce significant rainfall or alleviate street dust levels.
Cooler, drier air will move in from the southwest on Monday, accompanied by gusty winds reaching 15–20 m/s in Lapland. Despite above-freezing temperatures, wind chill will make conditions feel colder, particularly along coasts. A light frost is possible nationwide Monday night.
Tuesday will be sunny but remain windy, with temperatures struggling to reach 10°C—still unusually warm for the season, Valtonen said.
Midweek rain to settle dusty conditions
A low-pressure system arriving Wednesday night will bring widespread rain, with snow possible in Northern Savo, North Karelia, Kainuu, and Lapland, accumulating 2–4 cm. Valtonen stressed this is not a return to winter but rather a “relief for dusty conditions.” Poor air quality, reported across southern and central Finland over the weekend, is expected to improve with the rainfall.
Dry weather returns late in the week, with temperatures remaining well above seasonal norms—an occurrence Valtonen described as happening “once every 30 years or less.”
