Finnish customs intercepts major drug shipments from Italy in express deliveries
Finnish Customs has uncovered a series of serious drug offences involving at least 13 kilograms of cocaine and 50 kilograms of hashish and marijuana smuggled from Italy via express freight, public broadcaster Yle reports.
The shipments, sent between December and January, were detected during customs inspections in Vantaa and Pirkkala, with additional deliveries intended for Turku and Tampere. Authorities seized five of the eight identified consignments, confiscating approximately 9.5 kg of cocaine, 21.5 kg of hashish, and 12 kg of marijuana.
The street value of the intercepted drugs is estimated at over €2 million. Two foreign nationals suspected of involvement have been apprehended in Tampere.
Customs continues its pre-trial investigation into the case.
