Lego bricks illustrate Denmark’s housing inequality gap

A new exhibition in Copenhagen uses Lego bricks to visualise the growing divide in Denmark’s housing market, reports Danish broadcaster DR.

The installation, titled *How High Can You Build?*, displays stacks of Lego representing the maximum home price first-time buyers can afford based on their income. The tallest towers—symbolising higher earners—dwarf the shorter stacks of lower-income groups, highlighting how wage differences directly translate into housing opportunities.

Organisers say the project aims to spark discussion about affordability as property prices continue to rise. “It’s a tangible way to show how the housing market isn’t just about supply and demand—it’s about who can actually participate,” a spokesperson told DR.

The exhibition runs through the end of the month at a central Copenhagen location.
