Former business federation chief Jyri Häkämies joins regional development company Cursor as advisor
Former long-serving director general of the Confederation of Finnish Industries (EK), Jyri Häkämies, will begin working as an unpaid advisor for Cursor, a regional development company operating in Kotka-Hamina and Loviisa, reports Yle.
Cursor, which employs 45 people, focuses on supporting local businesses, attracting investments to the region, and developing tourism. One of its key goals is to secure investments in battery manufacturing and data centers for Finland.
Ari-Pekka Saari, chair of Cursor’s board, stated that Häkämies’ experience and expertise will bring significant added value to the company’s operations. Häkämies, who will serve in an unpaid advisory role, is set to retire from EK in May as planned.
Before leading EK since 2012, Häkämies served as a member of parliament and held ministerial positions in three different governments, including as minister of economic affairs and defence.
