Faroese election candidates withdraw from Suðuroy constituency

Three candidates have withdrawn from the upcoming Faroese parliamentary election in the Suðuroy constituency, state broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya reports.

Erhard Joensen of the Republic party (Tjóðveldi), Jóhan Stenberg of the Union Party (Sambandsflokkurin), and Dennis Holm of the Progress Party (Frami) have all pulled out of the race. The move reduces competition in the southern island constituency ahead of the election.

The withdrawal follows a broader political debate over potential municipal mergers in Suðuroy, which has dominated local campaign discussions.
