Inquiry launched into exclusion of nativity plays in Finnish schools during Christmas celebrations

The traditional narrative of the birth of Jesus and the three wise men continues to be a recurring theme in many schools. In the fall of 2021, the Finnish National Agency for Education stated that elements of religion might be included in school Christmas celebrations, as long as they are part of Finnish culture. Nonetheless, some schools have chosen to exclude nativity plays from their holiday events intended for all students.

An inquiry is underway regarding the decisions made in your children’s or acquaintances’ schools related to this matter. What are your thoughts on the approaches taken? You can share your opinions through the attached survey form.
