The autumn months from September to November have been unusually warm across nearly all of Finland, according to meteorological reports. For instance, the observation site in Kotkan Rankka recorded the warmest autumn in its over 90-year history.

The average temperature for the entire country during this autumn ranks as the fourth highest in Finland’s recorded history. The autumn of 2020 holds the record for the warmest, being only about 0.17 degrees Celsius warmer than this year’s autumn, as noted by a meteorologist.

Meteorologists classify weather phenomena as “exceptional” if they statistically appear, on average, only three times over a century or less frequently. A “rare” occurrence is defined as happening less than once every ten years on average.
