The situation is being updated.

“It pains me to say this, but I have to. Today has felt like a wound, shocking yet confirming what I knew would come. It’s been a terrible day,” wrote Anette Trettebergstuen, former Minister of Culture and Gender Equality, on Facebook Saturday evening.

She expressed her gratitude for having served alongside Ingvild Kjerkol and Marte Mjøs Persen in the central committee, both of whom were unexpectedly ousted in the nomination meeting that day.

“Two of the most dedicated, clear-minded, and strategic women I’ve worked with are now deemed surplus by the party,” she lamented. Trettebergstuen noted that Hadia Tajik received the same disappointing news regarding her position.

“The three women I’ve seen get the most done have been dismissed. I had hoped they would all get another chance. Now, they’ve been dropped,” she added.

Trettebergstuen described the current state of the party as a “deep crisis,” emphasizing that just a short time ago, it would have been unthinkable to remove regional leaders, sitting representatives, and recently appointed ministers who sought re-election. She contrasted this with the inclusion of party figure Giske, questioning how this would ease his return.

Having been a member of the parliament since 2005, she has declined to run for re-election and expressed feelings of both sorrow and relief.

“The Workers’ Party is in a profound crisis. Its leader should recognize and address this soon,” she concluded.
