Severe weather causes damage reports in Vágur region

Sunday 24th 2024 on 11:33 in
Faroe Islands

Severe weather conditions have taken hold in the Vágur region, leading to a significant number of reports about damage across the area. As of 9 AM, the police recorded 41 reports, with approximately one-third originating from Vágum. In Sandavágur, a roof was torn off a residential building, sending roofing materials swirling through the storm.

Due to the hazardous conditions, authorities have urged residents to stay indoors, as flying debris, especially roofing sheets, can pose serious risks.

Rúni Vesturklett, the on-duty officer at the police station in Tórshavn, provided an overview of the situation during a news briefing at 10 AM.
