Following the aftermath of Storm Jari, numerous homes and holiday properties in Pirkanmaa and Central Finland remain without electricity. This intense winter storm, which affected Finland on Wednesday and Thursday, left around 70,000 customers powerless at its peak. According to reports, the unusually strong northeast winds caused significant damage in Elenia’s service area, marking the most severe impact in nearly a decade.

As of Sunday morning, approximately 700 customers in Pirkanmaa and about 200 households in Central Finland were still in the dark. Nationwide, around 1,400 households across eight power companies were affected. For many, the outages have persisted since Wednesday. The majority of those still without power are vacation homes.

There is currently no information about the compensation that electric transmission companies may owe their customers. Standard compensation payments will begin if outages last longer than 12 hours.

Repair crews, often in challenging conditions, have been working tirelessly to restore service. Heavy machinery has also been a necessity in the repair efforts. Efforts to fix the main power network in Mänttä-Vilppula were notably tracked on Saturday, showcasing the extent of the damage and ongoing restoration work.
