COP29 agreement reaches $300 billion climate funding target for developing countries by 2035
At the recent COP29, an agreement was reached regarding climate funding, stipulating that developed nations will provide a minimum of $300 billion annually to support developing countries by the year 2035. This agreement came after intense negotiations but was met with criticism from various parties who argue it is insufficient to meet the pressing needs of poorer nations.
Concerns were raised particularly from India, Bolivia, and Nigeria, highlighting a sentiment that the proposed funding lacks adequacy. Representatives from Bolivia expressed their frustration, stating, “We are entering an era where each must fend for themselves. This is not climate justice.”
