Swedish Mapping Authority head to meet Infrastructure Minister over confidential archives controversy
The head of the Swedish Mapping, Cadastral and Land Registration Authority, Susanne Ås Sivborg, is scheduled to meet with Infrastructure Minister Andreas Carlson on Monday, as confirmed by the Infrastructure Ministry. This meeting follows revelations about the agency’s confidential archives, which were reportedly accessible to commercial clients. Reports indicate that Sivborg had been warned about this issue for several years but did not take action until the archive was shut down in May.
The Infrastructure Minister has called for this meeting to obtain a comprehensive report on the agency’s management of information release policies prior to spring 2024. Until the meeting, the Minister will refrain from making any further comments.
In an interview, Sivborg stated that the archive remained open previously because it plays a vital role in Sweden’s urban development process. She asserts that the agency handled the situation appropriately, emphasizing that once the existence of confidential information was confirmed, the services were promptly terminated.
