Lina Haga expressed her astonishment upon being awarded the “Driver of the Year” title at the Bilsport Gala, where she was initially supposed to present the award. The audience erupted in applause as she received the honor, presented by renowned motorsport figures Henning and Petter Solberg.

At just 28, Haga has led the NMK Modum & Sigdal club for nearly six years. Her peers commend her selflessness and dedication, noting that she prioritizes others in both her club and the broader Norwegian motorsport community. Members appreciate not only her contributions but also her character, referring to her as an extraordinary person whose kindness is hard to find.

The award symbolizes the crucial role of volunteers in motorsport, recognizing those who go above and beyond for the sport. Haga described winning the award as the greatest honor for a volunteer, emphasizing her gratitude for the recognition.

Each year, the Bilsport Association receives nominations for passionate volunteers throughout the country, a tradition that has been ongoing since 2005. Haga stumbled into her role by chance and finds joy in supporting others as they pursue their passions in motorsport. While the role involves significant paperwork, planning, and meetings, she values the sense of community that develops among members, likening them to family. She enjoys fostering an environment where individuals can engage in what they love most, creating lasting connections along the way.
