The uncertain weather situation in the Westfjords region continues, despite some improvements in conditions. There have been no reports of landslides overnight, although adverse weather is expected to hit northern areas soon. The region is currently under a review, with updates anticipated tomorrow.

Local authorities have indicated that precipitation levels seem to be lower than previously forecasted. Most roads in the Westfjords are accessible, except for the Snæfjallastrandavegur. Travelers are advised to drive cautiously, particularly on roads with steep hills, as the ground remains very wet.

Significant landslides occurred earlier this week near Ísafjörður, leading to temporary closures, but roads connecting major areas, like Hnífsdalur, have since reopened. Repair crews are actively working on damaged roadways, anticipating that some areas may be cleared later in the day.

Meanwhile, residents of Flateyri had their water supply restored after being cut off for a day and a half due to a landslide affecting a water source. However, authorities advise boiling drinking water until it can be confirmed safe.

Looking ahead, meteorologists expect dramatic weather shifts over the coming 24 hours across the region, with warnings of strong winds and snow forecasted for northern and eastern Iceland. Local residents are being urged to prepare for potential disruptions caused by this severe weather expected to intensify later tomorrow. Authorities maintain heightened readiness to mitigate any impacts from the anticipated storm.
