In the latest survey by Maskína, there is no significant difference in support for the political parties Viðreisn and Samfylkingin. The findings indicate that while Viðreisn has gained half a percentage point to reach just over 19%, Samfylkingin has seen a decline from 20.9% to 20.1%. This shift narrows the gap between the two parties since the last poll.
Previously, on October 18, there was a notable six-point difference between the two, with Samfylkingin at 22.2% and Viðreisn at 16.2%. Support for both parties has fluctuated since the announcement of government dissolution by Prime Minister Bjarni Benediktsson, with Samfylkingin trending downward and Viðreisn trending upward.
The Center Party has suffered the most, dropping from 14.9% to 12.6% since the last survey, marking a decline from a peak of 17% recorded earlier. If these trends continue, this would be the lowest support level for the party since early October.
Meanwhile, the Independence Party remains stable at approximately 13.4%, signaling little change since the last poll was conducted. If these numbers were to reflect actual voting outcomes, the party could lose approximately six seats in parliament.
Other minority governing parties are also facing challenges, with the Left Greens falling below parliamentary threshold at 3.4%, while the Progress Party maintains around 7%, projected to secure five parliamentary seats, but also a loss of eight.
In contrast, the Socialists have seen a two-point increase to 6.3%, and the People’s Party has risen slightly to 9.2%. The Pirates hold steady at 5.1%, and the Democratic Party and Responsible Future parties remain at 2.1% and 0.6%, respectively.
