Recent polling indicates that there is no significant difference in popularity between the political parties Viðreisn and Samfylkingin, as reported by Maskína. The survey reveals that the Samfylkingin currently holds 20.1% of the vote, dropping from 20.9% in the last poll. In contrast, Viðreisn sees a slight increase, now estimated at just over 19%, gaining half a percentage point. The gap between the two parties has narrowed, which previously stood at about one percentage point.

The poll also shows a decline for the Miðflokkurinn, dropping 2 percentage points to 12.6%, after peaking at 17% in mid-October. For context, the party reached its highest point earlier in October with 18.6%. Recent fluctuations in the polls come after the resignation announcement by Prime Minister Bjarni Benediktsson.

The Self-Determination Party’s standing remains stable at 13.4%, a slight increase from 13.3% in the previous survey. The Left-Green Movement is outside the parliamentary threshold, currently at 3.4%. The other coalition party, Framsóknarflokkur, is polling around 7%, likely securing 5 seats if the elections were held today, which would result in a loss of 8 seats.

As for the other parties, the Socialists have gained 2 percentage points to reach 6.3%, while the Píratar hold 5.1%. The Democratic Party stands at 2.1% and the Ábyrg framtíð party is at 0.6%. The data reflects shifting political dynamics ahead of the upcoming Alþingiskosningar (parliamentary elections) in 2024.
