President Niinistö presents crisis readiness report at European Parliament in Brussels

Today, President Sauli Niinistö is attending a plenary session of the European Parliament in Brussels, where he will present his report on enhancing Europe’s crisis readiness. This report, prepared at the request of Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, outlines various measures for EU countries to bolster their preparedness for potential crises.

Among the recommendations, the report advocates that at least 20 percent of the EU’s overall budget should be allocated to security and crisis readiness initiatives. This emphasis on improving crisis management frameworks is seen as crucial for strengthening the resilience of member states amid a backdrop of increasing uncertainties both politically and economically in Europe.
