In an effort to combat youth crime, the government will unveil a report on preventive measures for children and adolescents. One of the report’s recommendations suggests that parents who fail to ensure their children comply with social services’ directives for outpatient interventions may face fines. The specifics of these potential penalties remain uncertain, but they are expected to be tailored to the financial circumstances of the parents involved.

During a press conference scheduled for 9 AM, the Minister of Social Services will review additional proposals from the “Mellantvång investigation.” This inquiry also includes assessing the feasibility of electronic monitoring for minors and conducting serious discussions with parents of children who are suspected of criminal activities, as identified by social services. A previous investigation had already put forth the idea of electronic monitoring for youth residing in care facilities.

The Minister of Social Services is anticipated to provide further insights about these recommendations during the press event, highlighting the government’s proactive approach to tackling the escalating issue of juvenile delinquency. Overall, these initiatives aim to enhance support for at-risk youth while holding parents accountable for their children’s actions.
