Almost all power outages caused by Storm Lyly have been resolved in Satakunta. According to the Energy Industry’s power outage map, 39 households were without electricity in Eurajoki on Monday morning. Paneliankosken Voima reported on Sunday that the majority of their customers without power are now located on islands.
“We have recently repaired low-voltage faults, neutral faults, and phase losses, for which we have received considerable outage location information from our customers,” the company stated in a press release.
Repairs for the damage continue as Paneliankosken Voima renews poles and wires and clears fallen trees. This work may lead to short interruptions in electricity distribution in the upcoming weeks. The energy company reminds that any trees potentially still touching power lines cannot be removed for safety reasons without permission from the electric company.
It is strictly prohibited to touch power lines that are unusually low to the ground.
Regarding compensation, customers are entitled to receive a standard compensation for uninterrupted network service outages lasting more than 12 hours, according to the Electricity Market Act. Paneliankosken Voima will credit the standard compensation directly to customers’ electricity bills without requiring a separate application. There is a six-month period to calculate and issue these compensations, the company noted.
Classified as Finland’s first hurricane, Storm Lyly caused tree and power pole damage on the evening of November 1. According to assessments by the Finnish Forest Agency, the storm toppled approximately 100,000 cubic meters of timber in the coastal areas of Satakunta and Varsinais-Suomi.
