The supplementary budget for September will be 8.1 million kroner less than initially proposed. The request will now amount to 75.4 million kroner instead of the originally intended 83.5 million.

A unanimous finance committee has issued a report on the matter. The adjustments are due to a decrease in shipbuilding reimbursements by 1.5 million kroner, a reduction in health insurance allocations by 4 million, and a cut of 2.6 million kroner for the National Hospital and overseas treatments.

Additionally, 12 million kroner is being requested for the Dal Tunnel to expedite the project. Of the 75.4 million kroner total, 33 million kroner is designated for the Fámjinstunnel to complete its construction. The supplementary request includes 19 million kroner for this year, with plans to allocate another 14 million in the next year’s budget. This brings the total cost for the Fámjinstunnel to 285 million kroner.

A request of 12 million kroner for the Dal Tunnel this year aims to accelerate the project timeline, meaning the total allocation for the year will be 37 million kroner instead of the planned 25 million.

Furthermore, there is a request for 7.7 million kroner to relocate the hydraulic ramp from Skopun to Syðradalur, facilitating the servicing of the Kalsoy route for a new ferry currently under design. An additional 17 million kroner is sought for the health sector, enabling the treatment facility to move into the Kerit convent in Tórshavn instead of constructing a new building. Of the 17 million, 12 million kroner will be used for purchasing the property and 5 million for renovations.
