Mediation efforts to begin between Employees’ Federation and Ministry of Finance in Norway

Tomorrow at 9 AM, mediation efforts will commence between the Employees’ Federation on one side and the Ministry of Finance along with the Municipal Employers’ Association on the other.
“We have spoken with both parties, and I hope it will be possible to reach an agreement,” said Terje Sigurðsson, the mediator.
On Friday, the Mediation Office held a meeting with the Employees’ Federation, followed by a meeting with the Ministry of Finance and the Municipal Employers’ Association yesterday.
Positive Meetings
“There were positive meetings where the parties presented their perspectives. I don’t believe the parties are too far apart, but let’s wait and see,” commented Terje Sigurðsson.
The mediator expressed hope that he would soon be able to present a mediation proposal for the parties to consider.
The parties have already engaged in six negotiation meetings. However, negotiations broke down on October 31, prompting the Mediation Office to be called in.
