Brann aims for high attendance as Norwegian clubs struggle to sell tickets

Brann has reported that no Norwegian club has sold over 14,000 tickets for all mandatory matches within a calendar year. Notably, the lowest attendance recorded this season was 14,230 during a home game against KFUM in September.

All three matches in the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifying round saw more than 14,000 fans at Brann Stadion. With two home matches left in 2024 against Lillestrøm and Viking, expectations are high for attendance to exceed 14,000 significantly, especially with a championship in sight.

Rosenborg has consistently attracted at least 14,000 spectators to all its Eliteserien matches for several seasons, although it has fallen below this figure in one or more domestic or European cup fixtures. This season, Brann boasts an average attendance of 15,639 in the Eliteserien, a slight increase from last year’s 15,204. Rosenborg follows closely with an average of 13,858, but this figure rises to 14,924 when excluding an empty-stadium match against LSK.

Viking is the third and final club with an average attendance exceeding 10,000, currently at 12,197.

Here is a summary of the average attendances for Eliteserien teams so far in 2024 (with stadium capacities in parentheses): 1) Brann – 15,639 (16,750) 2) Rosenborg – 14,924 (21,423) 3) Viking – 12,197 (15,900) 4) Fredrikstad – 8,698 (12,565) 5) Lillestrøm – 7,453 (10,540) 6) Molde – 7,027 (11,249) 7) Bodø/Glimt – 6,617 (8,200) 8) Sarpsborg – 5,265 (8,022) 9) Haugesund – 5,073 (8,754) 10) Strømsgodset – 5,038 (8,935) 11) Odd – 4,786 (11,767) 12) Tromsø – 4,642 (6,691) 13) HamKam – 4,161 (7,800) 14) Sandefjord – 3,897 (6,582) 15) Kristiansund – 3,557 (4,444) 16) KFUM Oslo – 2,887 (3,300).
