The Invalidiliitto organization is planning to divest its disability services company, Validia Oy, as reported by Iltalehti. Invalidiliitto’s CEO, Janne Juvakka, has not disclosed the reasons behind this potential sale, emphasizing that no decisions have been finalized yet.

“We are currently discussing the matter. I want to allow the council some space to make its decision. If a decision to sell is made, I can provide more detailed information at that time,” Juvakka stated. The council is set to meet on November 23 to discuss the sale intentions.

“We’ll see what reactions this brings among our 49-member council. New viewpoints for and against may arise,” he added. Juvakka noted that all options are open, and there is no greater weight to either selling or retaining Validia. “If a decision is made to put Validia up for sale, there will still be a long way to find a suitable buyer.”

Juvakka also clarified that the sale intentions are unrelated to recent issues reported regarding the Seinäjoki Validia building. “These matters are not connected, despite Iltalehti suggesting otherwise. It’s important to remember that the Seinäjoki case is older. The reporting on the building and the sale intentions coincidentally occurred at the same time.”

According to Juvakka, Invalidiliitto has been transparent in both the Seinäjoki and the potential sale matters. He expressed disappointment that negative developments tend to overshadow positive progress made by Validia. Notably, Validia operates around 50 locations across nearly 30 municipalities, employing about 1,600 workers. Validia Oy is part of the Invalidiliitto group, which also includes Oy Mobility Finland Ab, along with its subsidiaries.
