Árni Ellefsen, former director of Føroya Banka, has been appointed as the new chairman of the board at Posta.

During a special general meeting on Wednesday for the company Postverk Føroya, it was agreed that Joen Magnus Rasmussen would step down from the board, and Árni H. Ellefsen would take his place. The board has now been organized with Ellefsen as the chairman.

Bjarni Kárason Petersen, the Minister of Legal Affairs, emphasized the need for the company to adapt, noting that Ellefsen brings valuable experience from both the business sector and as a board member and chairman.

Kárason Petersen pointed out that Posta is facing challenges, and the new chairman will play a vital role in steering the company back on course. He has also notified the boards of public limited companies under his oversight that salary levels need to be reduced and that fundamental principles are to be established for board remuneration in these companies.

In a brief statement, Árni Ellefsen expressed that this is an exciting and challenging role, where he, along with the board, will continue to improve the operations of Posta.
