Kaivohuone restaurant closes in Helsinki’s Kaivopuisto park

The Kaivohuone restaurant, located in Helsinki’s Kaivopuisto park, has closed its doors. The restaurant announced the closure on its website and social media platforms. The news was first reported by Iltalehti, which stated that the publicly traded company Noho Partners, responsible for the restaurant’s operations, terminated the lease agreement in the spring. The contract is set to end at the end of October.

Originally completed in 1838, the restaurant was designed by architect Carl Ludvig Engel. Last year, the city of Helsinki expressed its intention to sell the iconic property, although it assured that the building would remain in use as a restaurant. Further updates are anticipated.
