Pirkka seed mixes and K-Menu peanuts recalled over salmonella and aflatoxin health risks
Several products, including Pirkka salad seed mix and Pirkka pumpkin seeds, are being recalled due to findings of salmonella in monitoring studies, according to a statement released on Monday. Additionally, in the same studies conducted by the customs department, K-Menu brand peanuts were found to contain levels of aflatoxin exceeding the limit set by EU legislation. Aflatoxin is a type of mold poison that can form in products under moist and warm conditions.
These products pose a health risk and should not be consumed. Incorrect product batches have been removed from grocery stores. The recalls affect the following products: Pirkka salad seed mix 180g with a best before date of 29.03.2025, Pirkka pumpkin seeds 175g with a best before date of 23.04.2025, and K-Menu peanuts 1kg with a best before date of 14.04.2025.
Customers are requested to return any purchased defective products to K-food stores. Batches of these products marked with other dates are safe to consume.
